Antibodies for immunocytochemistry

Immunocytochemistry (ICC) is a laboratory technique commonly used to visualize the specific location of an antigen within a cell using specific antibodies.

Antigen detection can be direct or indirect. In the direct method, the antibody added to the sample is pre-conjugated to an enzymatic detection system or a fluorophore. In the indirect method, in addition to the primary antibody, a conjugated secondary antibody is needed, which carries the detection system and binds to the primary antibody. Whether direct or indirect, the use of antibodies in immunocytochemistry allows for the visualization of the protein in its specific location under the microscope.

The immunocytochemistry technique enables the observation of individual cells within a colony or culture, thus providing a comprehensive evaluation of how the expression of a specific marker is distributed throughout the culture under defined conditions.
